A technology-enabled futuristic vision centre was inaugurated at Mandadam village in Thullur mandal of Guntur district as the 278 th vision unit of LV Prasad Eye Institute’s (LVPEI) on Monday.
The vision centre will provide quality eye care services to the residents of Mandadam and neighboring villages. It is a permanent, free walk-in clinic accessible to everyone, regardless of socio-economic status.
According to LVPEI doctors, it is the first of its kind, equipped to perform both anterior and posterior segment examinations, along with teleconsultation facilities. The teleconsultation facility will enable patients to connect with experts at the tertiary care centre or quaternary care institute (centre of excellence) at Hyderabad, based on the need.
A trained vision technician (VT) from LVPEI will conduct comprehensive undilated eye tests. Diagnostic tests for glaucoma and retinal diseases will also be done at the centre. In addition, the centre also offers home care services for persons unable to visit the centre due to health, mobility or other constraints.
